An incredulous HarvardAE-Denver audience witnessed cyber security expert John Sileo (College, ’91) easily hack a member’s iPhone in under 2 minutes at the Denver Country Club on January 30. Among other jarring items, John shared highly disturbing footage illustrating the state of the art in deep fake video production—and how difficult it has become to accurately distinguish between a genuine article and a sophisticated fake. In a spellbinding presentation, John walked through a list of the hacker’s toolkit, along with the tactics and countermeasures one must employ to prevent becoming a cyber victim. He closed by emphasizing his overarching B.S. guidance: Be Skeptical!
