Apply: HAE NYC / HBSAA NY Startup Showcase

The New York City Chapter of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs and Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of NY invite startups from across the globe with a Harvard founder to apply for the First Annual HAE NYC / HBSAA NY Startup Showcase, held virtually on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 6pm EDT. 

Up to 6 startups will be selected to present their companies at the showcase, followed by audience Q&A. Audience members will vote electronically to determine the top choices. The winner will be given special consideration for upcoming HBS Angels of New York pitch night. 

Applications are now open, and will close at 11:59pm PT on Sunday, October 24th, 2021. Finalists will be notified by Wednesday, November 3, 2021 to confirm their acceptance. 

Please note:  Both Harvard alumni and Harvard-affiliated founders are welcome to apply.

*Start-ups do NOT have to be in the NYC area to apply or win! The only criteria is at least one founder is a Harvard alum.  


About Our Moderators: 

Jim Sherman (HBSAA-NY)

Jim is a serial Internet entrepreneur, angel/seed stage investor, and author.  He founded and exited three companies -- WestEnd New Media in the late 90s focused on providing Internet strategy advice to media firms; ShermansTravel Media (2002 to present), a leading publisher of hand-picked travel deals, and  Hamptons Lane, an e-commerce venture targeting foodies. He has deep experience in digital media, advertising & marketing, and e-commerce. His former corporate roles include strategy consulting (Bain & Co.) and publishing (Time Inc.; Pearson; Martha Stewart Living).  He loves travel, the theater, and international politics.

Kirstin Broderick (HAE-NYC)

Kirstin is a serial social entrepreneur, most recently the founder of NorthScale, a mental resilience & performance coaching firm. She has a Masters in Strategic Management & Economic Development (Harvard) and is a licensed therapist (LMSW, Fordham), but her most important training is her 20+ years as a Zen Buddhist. She has worked with organizations from The World Bank, fast-growing tech companies, VC firms, and even a vegan food truck. She completed her first intensive meditation training in rural Japan in 1998, and received Jukai–or Zen Ordination–in 2012, and was given the dharma name Daikatsu, translated as Great Liveliness, or Big Life.
