HAE Chicago: Female Entrepreneurs’ Spotlight

In celebration of Women’s Month, Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs, Harvard Women in Defense, Diplomacy and Development (W3D), and Alumnae-i Network for Harvard Women (ANHW) are co-hosting two impressive businesswomen and entrepreneurs. Aleksandra Efimova, CEO of FLX Stretch, and Lisa Medalie, Founder of Dr Lullaby, bring their collective 40+ years of company-building experience to this special event. The session will feature a moderated conversation with our two guests, followed by an hour-long breakout session to discuss the challenges and opportunities that come with being a female entrepreneur.

About Our Guests

Aleksandra Y. Efimova is CEO of FLX StretchRussian Pointe & 5.6.7.EIGHT Podcast. Aleksandra was born in St. Petersburg, Russian, and made America her home in 1993. She started her first company Russian Pointe at age 20 as an undergraduate student and grew it into a global premier dancewear brand. After acquiring Flexistretcher in 2019 Aleksandra has expanded product collection and introduced instructor certification to a complete brand of stretching, strengthening, and recovery – FLX. Additionally, she is VP of the US-Russia Chamber of Commerce and a Founding member of the HAE Chicago Chapter.

Lisa Medalie, PsyD, DBSM is the founder of DrLullaby, the first evidence-based sleep app, developed by a sleep doctor, to address sleep needs of all ages. Dr. Medalie is the Adult and Pediatric Insomnia Specialist at the University of Chicago. Dr. Medalie trained at Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and UCSD. She is co-author of the published book Putting Sleep Problems to Bed, Solutions for Children 0-18 Years. She is published in peer-reviewed journals such as JAMA and Sleep. Dr. Medalie is regularly featured as a sleep expert in the media (e.g., New York Times, Dr. Oz, NPR).
