Andrew Hillis completed a PhD in Business Economics from HBS in 2017. During and after graduate school, he founded Herald Health, a software platform that empowers healthcare providers to implement new data-driven workflows. Herald was piloted at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital and acquired by Persistent Systems in 2018. After transitioning Herald to Persistent, Andrew is now starting a new venture focused on expert networks.

During her time at Harvard, Jessica managed the Harvard Student Agencies endowment, served as Chief Investment Officer of Smart Woman Securities, and was an executive board member of Women in Business. She has worked with venture capital funds, including General Catalyst, Romulus Capital, Global Founders Capital, and Female Founders Fund. She was an early team member at startups, including Morning Brew (Forbes 30 Under 30), Luxe (acquired by Volvo), and Allo (YC W19). She is currently an early stage investor with Soma Capital in San Francisco, California. Jessica also heads content for Elpha (YC S19) and Harvard in Tech, runs her own blog on seed and Series A founders, and curates the Techstars startup digest.

Jessica is a graduate of Harvard College, where she received a bachelors degree with high honors in economics and computer science. She completed her thesis research on foreign direct investment bargaining in China with Nobel Laureate, Oliver Hart.

Oscar specializes in clean technology, future mobility, and management consulting. He currently leads North America M&A for Toyota Tsusho, a diversified trading and manufacturing conglomerate. He also works with Toyota Tsusho's corporate VC fund, focused on future mobility and smart factory startups. Prior to joining Toyota Tsusho, Oscar held various cleantech roles, including project development, renewable energy finance, and corporate development for a solar energy technology startup. He has additional experience as a consultant with Bain & Company and as a physicist.

Oscar’s work experience includes Toyota Tsusho (M&A and corporate venture capital), NRG Renew (renewable project development), Sol-Wind LLC (renewable energy finance), Black & Veatch (technical advisor to renewable energy investors), Skyline Solar (solar energy technology startup), Bain & Company, BAE Systems.

JOE MARTINEZ AB’90

A seasoned corporate attorney, Joe’s practice focuses on the representation of entrepreneurs, technology start-ups, and emerging companies from formation through liquidity event. Acting as an outside general counsel, he routinely advises clients through angel and venture capital financings, and guides them through a range of other transactions including bank financings, commercial contracts, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

Active in the Greater Boston venture capital community, Joe serves on the board of directors of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge, and has been a judge and a mentor for the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, MassChallenge, and the NEBA (f.k.a. SBANE) New England Innovation Awards. Joe is a Board member of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs.

Lauren Picasso has over a decade of experience working at high growth startups. She is currently the Founder and CEO of Cure Hydration, an organic sports drink that launched in 2019. Before starting Cure, she was an early employee at Jet.com, an e-commerce company that raised $570M in funding and was acquired by Walmart for $3.3B in 2016. As Director of Marketing at Jet, Lauren worked across a variety of online and offline marketing channels helping to scale the company to over 10 million customers. She was also an early employee of Rent the Runway and has worked for Google, Bloomingdale’s and Ralph Lauren. She received her MBA from Harvard Business School and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

LISA SHU PhD’12

Dr. Lisa Shu is obsessed with the operations of decision-making: as a behavioral scientist, she sees opportunity everywhere to harness the tools of behavioral science to optimize choice outcomes. She designs and tests behavioral interventions that improve decision-making—focusing on nudges that entrepreneurs, managers, and policymakers use. She has worked extensively with founding teams to help acquire and engage customers by anticipating user psychology, behavior, habits, aspirations, and frictions.She is a faculty member at London Business School, where she teaches Negotiation & Bargaining to Executive and MBA students. She attained her PhD in Organizational Behavior from Harvard Business School and her AB in Economics and Psychology from Harvard College.

I'm also an Ontario lawyer, a graduate of Harvard University as well as McGill University’s Faculty of Law, a Bay Street alum, a dad, and a self-taught coder. As an entrepreneur, technology lawyer and legal technologist, I'm passionate about using legal and technological insights to help lawyers work smarter and law firms use their knowledge more efficiently.
